On 10/27 (Mon.), snow accumulated across the Tateyama and Ushiro-Tateyama Ranges, which include peaks such as Mt. Shirouma. This marked the first snowfall of the season for Tateyama—one day earlier than last year—and for the Ushirotateyama Range, ten days earlier than last year. Following the powerful cold air mass that moved south around 10/19 (Sun.) and brought the first snow to Hokkaido and northern Japan, this snowfall over Tateyama and Mt. Shirouma arrived at nearly the same timing as last year’s snow-filled start to the season.
